Ostensibly, he turns up to protest at austerity measures in this case 'cuts' to the Student Loans scheme. All very laudable in the context of peaceful protest which is a right, in a Democracy, so i am led to believe?
He must have a massive amount of empathy with the 'great unwashed' - his fees at Girton College, Cambridge, where he is studying History is about £9,000 per year! It is rumoured that his Stepdad is 'not' paying for this and he has taken out a loan - as his 'Dad' is worth an estimated £78 Million if that is true then it's a bit mean methinks.

I do actually think that the punishment is a tad on the harsh side as he did'nt actually hurt anybody, it was only property that was damaged. Somebody else threw a fire extinguisher off of a building, what happened to them? I can't help thinking the message has come down from 'on high' to make examples of everybody involved.
A pity they dragged their heels on Ian Tomlinsons' death in particular, 'kettling' and Police brutality in general.
I just hope that these 'riots' do not usher in ever more draconian laws with regard to lawful protest and peaceful assembly.
