Following hard on the heels of Thursdays 'demonstration' it transpires that the Cenotaph-Desecrating-Union-Jack-Swinging-Anarchist is non other than........Charlie Gilmour??????

Name ring any bells? It did with me, adopted son of Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame, his birth father is Heathcote Williams, playwright and poet, famous for 'Whale Nation' a superb eco-monologue on mans' association with, reliance on and destruction of the Worlds population of great Whales. Well worth a read or a viewing if you can get hold of either the book or the dvd.
Charlies' mum split from him and bumped into a rock legend and as they say the rest is history.

Ostensibly, Thursdays' 'demo' was about student grants and how ill-affordable they are, generally-speaking, by the bulk of working-class individuals and how graduates will be locked into debt for the rest of their lives (it's not quite as simple as that but that's another story).
Well, Charlie must have been at 'The Great Gig in the Sky' to show some sort of solidarity with the great unwashed because he 'aint short of a few bob that's for sure........Or his stepfather is'nt.

Interestingly Chaz has'nt kept his actual Fathers name, nice one Chaz - the family PR guru probably advised him that to be associated with a multi-millionaire rock-icon would probably do more for his career than a poet would? He has also done some review-doodling for the Grauniad, that would'nt have anything to do with Musmsies scribbling contacts in Fleet Street now, would it?
Mind you if he had'nt changed his name and had been plain old Charlie Williams and i had heard that he had been identified swinging from the Cenotaph, me, being of a certain age i would have thought he's a bit old for that is'nt he???

Ignorance is the poorest of excuses but I am sincerely sorry.”

Rock star's son faces quiz over Cenotaph protest
The son of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour could be questioned by police after he admitted swinging from a Union Flag on the Cenotaph during the student protests.
Charlie Gilmour, 21, apologised for climbing the memorial to Britain's war dead in Whitehall, central London, saying he was "mortified" by his "moment of idiocy".
The Cambridge University history student said he did not realise it was the Cenotaph and felt "deeply ashamed" by his actions during yesterday's demonstration against higher tuition fees.
He only realised the significance of his actions after seeing pictures of himself in today's newspapers hanging from the flag with his legs dangling, a source said.
Scotland Yard said a 19-year-old man was held last night on suspicion of causing criminal damage in relation to the Cenotaph incident.
It is understood that this was not Mr Gilmour and there could be further arrests as the investigation progresses.
Mr Gilmour said in a statement: "I would like to express my deepest apologies for the terrible insult to the thousands of people who died bravely for our country that my actions represented.

Mr Gilmour is on the books of modelling agency Select Model Management and has tried his hand as a journalist, but is now studying history at Girton College, Cambridge.
He is the son of writer and journalist Polly Samson and his father is the poet and playwright Heathcote Williams, her first husband. He was later adopted by the Pink Floyd musician when she remarried.
In an interview earlier this year, he talked about being bought two Savile Row suits before he headed off to university.
A Cambridge University spokesman said: "This incident took place outside term time in London and is a matter for the civil authorities."
David Gilmour's former bandmate Roger Waters lost his father in the Second World War and has written about his loss extensively throughout his career, including in a number of Pink Floyd songs.
The moving track When The Tigers Broke Free chronicles an attack on the Royal Fusiliers by German Tiger tanks.
Waters' father, Eric Fletcher Waters, served in the Fusiliers and died during Operation Shingle.

Perhaps Chuck thinks he is the re-born personification of the noble poet, after all, Byron was rumoured to have indulged in drugs and liked the odd pugilistic knock-about.....He also defended the Luddites, a cause to which he was not born to or affected by. Byron also fought against the Ottomans during the Greek War of Independence so maybe Chaz will volunteer his services to Afghanistan to help out 'our boys' although i ca'nt see him straying very far from his allowance and the Cambridge totty and he wo'nt be allowed to fly back from Helmand Province because he has a modelling photo-shoot!
